Takeo
Spikes, "TKO", is the premier linebacker in the NFL. The 1998
NFL season was Takeos rookie season, and he highlighted it by leading
all rookies in tackles with 112. Takeos dominating power, toughness,
and quickness have many NFL personnel likening his versatile athletic
ability to his childhood hero, the legendary Hall of Famer Mike Singletary.
Career:
Takeo was drafted in the 1st round of the 1998 draft (13th overall). Termed
"a guided missile" by head coach Bruce Coslet, Takeo started
every game from the preseason opener and lead the season tackle totals
by the widest margin since 1987. The Sporting News National Defensive
Player of the Year in 1997 was a unanimous All-Rookie team selection and
finished second in rookie of the year voting behind Heisman Trophy winner
Charles Woodson.

In addition to his phenomenal rookie season, Takeos highlights include
the following: 5th in the NFL in solo tackles with 98 (a Bengals
record); 4th in the NFL in total snaps from scrimmage; and 4 consecutive
10 plus tackle games.
Personal:
Takeo, meaning "great warrior" in Japanese, is single and resides
between Atlanta and Cincinnati. TKO hosts his own radio show in Cincinnati
and has been a featured guest on many TV shows which include Jim Romes
The Last Word, Fox Sports, NBC Sports, and BET. Takeo was featured by
the NFL in their United Way commercials and is the spokesperson for Childrens
Hospitals throughout Ohio. Takeo is committed to supporting charitable
causes through the TKO Foundatin.
